WERE
ALL NORMAL
by Carrie Cofer
We
all WANT...something. Prenatally
programmed to want IT Whatever
IT is For
you, money? Applause,
or a different kind of attention? Or
have we learned, Made
the genetic U-Turn to find IT, And
learned to yearn for A
more appropriate substitute. What
do we WANT when we want A
plate everfull of the best food? Maybe
it is a feeling of security, of non-want. Or
when we WANT all the fishing gear on the continent? Do
we need just a quiet place once in a while?
No
matter what it is, No
matter how different How
outlandish How
desperate the longing in your soul It
is normal to want. Some
search for acceptance A
lifelong quest Some
for love. Or
even just to satisfy Skin
hunger. The
luckiest of the seekers find all three at the same time. The
thing about IT and being normal is When
you find the IT you have needed That
you have scratched and scraped and fought for Dont
be surprised to discover Another,
deeper, subtler WANT
We
all WANT. We
are all normal. To
