DID WE?

Did we know each other before?

Your eyes seem to remind me

Of times and places, reasons and seasons

We were together

That I cannot find

In my waking memory.

Could it be?  Did we find love

In another time

Or another place?

I know you and how you are

Or how you would be

How we could be, together.

What could have kept us apart?

Were all the reasons

Enough

For us to agree,

To deny ourselves,

To wait so long?

Yes.  A complicated life;

Accomplishments,

Tieing up loose ends,

Bringing forth our posterity,

Fulfilling responsibilities first,

Before we can honor our wishes.
